MEET OUR PASTOR
Pastor Kevin D. Thornton is a native of Springfield, Ohio born to James Sr and Lillian L. Thornton. He is the husband of Viola M. Thornton, father of one son and two daughters, and grandfather to three granddaughters and one grandson.
Pastor Thornton is the Founder and Pastor of New Life Emmanuel Church in Chicago, Illinois. Pastor Thornton is a man with a love for God and a commitment to His word with a heart for people. As Founder and Pastor of New Life Emmanuel Church Pastor Thornton followed the direction of God to extend the outreach of God’s great commission to the Greater Chicago communities and extending to the northern, and southwestern Suburbs and beyond.
Pastor Thornton was mentored at a young age by the late Bishop Cecil A Pratt as well as many others including Elder Johnny James, Bishop Paul Bowers, and his grandfather Pastor George Goodman (Fire Baptized Ministries).
Pastor Thornton received a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Wilberforce University, Ohio, and a master’s degree in theology from the International Apostolic University of Grace and Truth, Ohio.
Pastor Thornton and the New Life Emmanuel Church family are members of the PAW (Pentecostal Assemblies of the World Inc.) and the IDC (Illinois District Council). Pastor Thornton is a proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. and a member of the DuPage County NAACP.
